Good Sam Bike Jam Mural Project

Coming this month, Good Samaritan Medical Center will be holding the annual bicycle riding challenge, The Good Sam Bike Jam. The ride is a fundraising event to benefit the newly established Cancer Care Assistance Fund which will be used to provide resources for patients and family members who have been touched by cancer. This year there is a new feature included in the event- The Ribbon Mural project. The Center for Integrative Medicine is excited about this new effort to support our Good Samaritan patients in their quest for recovery and wellness. The description below outlines The Ribbon Mural project. We hope that you enjoy reading about the addition to this year’s Good Sam Bike Jam.

We’ve added another option to participate in raising money for the Cancer Care Assistance Fund. We just started the “The Ribbon Mural  at the Good Sam Bike Jam.  Riders will receive a different colored ribbon at each of the aid stations, representing 9 of the different kinds of cancer. At the finish area a large mural with a template of a garden will be complete with the exception of the flower blossoms. As the riders return throughout the day they will place the ribbons on the mural canvas to complete the mural and bring the garden to life. We have an initial video describing the formation of the idea for The Ribbon Mural  and will add three to four  more videos as the project progresses up to and through Bike Jam day.

We have created a website for ribbon purchase (donations) that can be accessed through a link on the Good Sam Bike Jam website ( www.goodsambikejam.org/the-mural-project ) or directly at our Crowdrise website, Mural Project Information and Video .  For non-riders and riders this is a creative option to participate in the day’s events.

When you have a minute please visit the site. If you like the idea/concept I encourage you to recognize friends and family who have been impacted by cancer through a donation. If you really like it, please pass this project on to your e-mail/social community contacts.
